My name is Christian Kiely-Charalambous (£5 off your first lesson if you can pronounce my surname!). I have over 15 years of experience playing the trumpet and more than 3 years of teaching experience. I studied Jazz Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music.

While trumpet is my main instrument, I also teach all brass instruments, as well as piano, guitar, and vocals up to an intermediate level. Jazz is my specialty, but I love ALL styles of music — classical, pop, indie, Carnatic, folk, film music, you name it! My lessons are flexible, creative, and tailored to whatever style or goals inspire you most.

Alongside private teaching, I’ve also worked at a special needs school in the West Midlands, giving me valuable experience supporting students with SEN and diverse learning needs. I believe every student learns differently, and my aim is always to make lessons enjoyable, confidence-building, and rewarding.

Our first lesson will be all about getting to know each other and finding out what you want to achieve. Whether you’re picking up the trumpet for the first time, preparing for grades, or looking to take your playing to a professional level, we’ll set clear goals together and make a plan that suits your learning style and interests.

Every lesson is designed to help you make real progress while having fun. I teach students of all ages and abilities — from absolute beginners to advanced players looking to refine their sound or improvisation skills. We’ll focus on strong fundamentals like tone, breathing, and technique, while also exploring creativity through improvisation, listening, and playing along to your favourite tunes. I use a mix of practical exercises, ear training, and musical games to keep things engaging for students of all ages.

I’m based in Camden, London, and I’m happy to travel within a reasonable distance to teach you in the comfort of your own home. Alternatively, we can have lessons online, or, if preferred, arrange a local studio space.
